The Society is pleased to announce the launching of our revised Fellowship pathway.
Fellowship is the highest grade that can be awarded to Society of Indexers members, and is part of a professional development continuum. This starts with Professional Membership, gained currently by achieving accreditation after successfully completing the Society’s training in indexing course, and progresses with Advanced Professional Membership, which recognises the achievement of an appropriate level of indexing experience and the establishment of a client base. Members must have been Advanced Professional Members for at least two years in order to apply for the final grade of Fellowship.
The Fellowship grade of the Society of Indexers has always aimed to raise the bar in terms of indexing standards, both for individual members and for the Society as a whole. For many years this was achieved by assessment to a high standard. The current format for Fellowship follows this tradition of encouraging indexers to strive for high standards in their professional practice: applicants will demonstrate their commitment to improving their practice post-qualification by fulfilling a CPD Points requirement and by taking a Self-Evaluation Exercise with tutorial feedback which further develops self-evaluative and reflective indexing skills. Completion of these two components, as recorded by the SI Office, will lead to Fellowship status.
Members will find full details about the process in the CPD area of the members’ menu.
