Workshops for local groups

SI Local Groups are encouraged to arrange workshops on a date and in a venue to suit their members.

The usual format is a 3-hour workshop running from 1.30-4.30 or 2-5, with a break for tea; most Local Groups arrange to meet for lunch first. Longer or shorter workshops can also be arranged on request.

Workshop numbers are limited to 10 participants and Local Group members have priority. If numbers are short the workshops may be opened to any SI member. Once a Local Group has a minimum of 5 people interested in a particular workshop, the Group Leader is asked to contact the tutor of the workshop they wish to book, to arrange dates and venues. Tutors' contact details can be found on the SI Membership List. (downloadable from the Members' Homepage).

Once a date/venue has been arranged the Group Leader should inform the SI office Email:

, which will then book the venue (usually one sourced by the local group, though the SI office will do this if required). The office will also email a booking form to the Group Leader for circulation. The SI funds the cost of the venue and the cost to each member will be the same as for any SI workshop, but time and money is saved by not having to travel far.

All workshops require some understanding of indexing techniques, but are suitable for students unless otherwise stated.

The following workshops are currently available:

The CPD Committee welcomes suggestions from local groups for other workshop topics.
